Question E-004770-16 de Maria Heubuch (Verts/ALE) - salle de lecture confidentielle pour document sur nouveaux OGM

Niveau juridique : Union européenne

  • Texte de la question :

It recently became known that the Commission has set up a secret reading room for its impact assessment on endocrine disruptors, to which 40 accredited officials have access. According to Commission sources, secret reading rooms are a very common measure for sensitive files.

Is there a reading room for the Commission’s legal interpretation on the sensitive issue of new genetic modification techniques? If so, who has access to this file via the reading room or via other means?

  • REPONSE de Mme Andriukaitis au nom de la Commission

The Commission has internal security arrangements that are applied where necessary in line with its security rules(1).

No document concerning new breeding techniques has been subject to these rules.

(1) For example, Commission Decision (EU, Euratom) 2015/444 of 13.3.2015 on the security rules for protecting EU classified information (OJ L 72, 17.3.2015, p. 53).
